Tourism Consulting

For Kate Colley, it was backpacking across Europe solo after completing her B.A. at Simon Fraser University that sparked the idea of travel as a career. Picturing herself leading tours in France, Italy and Germany was the catalyst to sign up for Capilano University's Tourism Management program. This led to an internship with Christine Coletta who opened up an entire world that centres on building up destinations by celebrating, marketing and telling the stories of what make them unique, wonderful, fun and delicious.

From working with Canada a la Carte and the BC Wine Institute, Kate expanded her portfolio to overseeing travel and trade media for Tourism Vancouver in the build up to hosting the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Global travels, relationship building and invaluable experiences, including co-creating Dine Out Vancouver, led her to branch out on her own to represent destinations, wineries, luxury hotels, chefs, ingredients and festivals under her agency, Colley Communications - now rebranded as Hatch Comms,

Kate's latest projects include the opportunity to become a partner at the reimagined Naramata Inn, and president of Discover Naramata. Kate loves using all the skills in her toolkit to support destinations to strengthen their storytelling and grow thoughtfully.
